Reflected Back into Space-Exhibition Road June 2012.
Conceived and produced by Kevin Chan, Paul Freeman, Stephen Stamper, Jonathan Mayne and myself, this group installation formed a peripheral part of the Exhibition Road's Supersonics Festival. The concept used hypersonic speaker technology in pitch black darkness to create an immersive environment which played on perceptual orientation of space. This installation used an array of 5 hypersonic speakers to beam the sound directionally and create a multi channel soundscape which changed as you explored the space. Glow in the dark rope was used to enable visitors to orientate themselves alongside others and to delineate the floor to wall boundary. Reactions to the experience ranged from the euphoric to the uncomfortable. Please click on the book to read some of the comments.
